motor operation question

on my 150 johnson, is the water pump indicator the hole in the flushing cap. Put another way does the cap have hole/s in it to allow water to shoot out?<br />the motor is a 92. I think i have made a BIG mistake. I got my holes mixed up. ie telltale and water pump indicators. I have been waiting for the telltale to shoot water. <br />On a side note: if the above question is true,<br />then i must ask why it would be bad to run the motor in the water without the flush cap on
