motor overheated and wont start

I HAVE A CHRYSLER 55 HP SINGLE CARB , I BOUGHT IT NOT RUNNING CHANGED HEAD GASKET ,AND THERMOSTAT AND PLUGS ON THE FIRST TIME OUT SHE RAN LIKE A DREAM , BUT MUST HAVE PICKED UP MUD OR SILT FROM LAKE AND OVERHEATED AND STOPPED AND NOW I CANT GET HER GOING AGAIN . I CLEANED THE BARRELS BECAUSE SHE MIGHT OF HEAT SIEZED AND THEY RUN SMOOTH NOW . :p

had a look at the plugs and have good spark on both ,could it be anything to do with fuel as i cant see a lot on plugs and a fair bit comes out of front of carb when i try to start it , if so why would this happen ? cheers

You may be having trouble with the needle valve sticking in the open position. Remove the carb. Take off the bowl and see if anything is stuck in the fuel inlet that might keep the valve from closing.

had a look at the carb cleaned it all out and it seems ok , but it still doesnt want to fire up it just missfires every now and again ,could this be something to do with it semi-siezing and me trying to start it straight after ? any help appreciated .
