Hi all - I cut a new motor plate from 3/4" ACX ply for the feathercraft and I am not too sure what to treat the wood with. I have some semi-gloss urathane to use up so is that sufficient protection for the wood it when it is in the water for hours at a time?

Re: Motor plate

Fiberglass, epoxy, marine varnish, and yes the urathane will work but pay attention to all the exposed edges......
Depending on how long you want it to last will be a result of how it is treated...... also be advised that the wood should be as dry as possible prior to you coating it. I have gone as far as coating all the edges with an epoxy prior to paint.

Re: Motor plate

Thanks. the ACX ply had no voids on the edges so for that I am lucky. since spar varnish sounds acceptable, I'll use that and just apply a bunch of coats.
