motor problems

hey guys new to the board looking for help. I have a '66 evinrude 60hp
It runs for awhile then dies out on me and want start again. Its like its running hot or something, cause after about 30min or so it starts up again
It will do that about three times then it want start at all

Welcome to the forum!!:):)
If it's running hot, DO NOT RUN IT!!! You should be able to hold your hand on the engine for a thre count, if not it's running hot. Check to make sure it's not really hot before you touch it.

if the coils have not been changed,, they are probably getting hot and failing. this is classic coil failure.

The coil on that engine is inside the magneto, the black thing hanging off the back of the motor. I strongly recommend you purchase a service manual before you attempt to remove and reinstall that mag.
