Motor question?

I have a question that's puzzling me and hopefully somebody can help.

I took my boat out Saturday the 4th out to Sylvan Beach, which is saltwater, I unloaded the boat, ran it for about 2 hours and loaded the boat back up. I got back to the house and was getting ready to flush the motor and when I tried to start the motor, I turn the key and nothing. No sound, no clicking noise nothing complete silence. I checked my battery and it was fully charged. The next day I tried to start the motor and it came on like nothing, it started right up. What could have happened that the motor didn't start that one but the next day it did? What do I need to check before I go back out onto the water?

Thank you for your help

Re: Motor question?

assuming you pushed the throttle forward once back from the salt, you may NOT have disengaged the lever from neutral..will not start in gear.
