I have a Suzuki 03 DT225 (2 Stroke).
Can anyone help or maybe it's normal the water coming out of the discharge hole is burning hot after running the motor for maybe 10 minutes. I ran the motor to test but ran it on ears. Is this normal or can someone point me in the right place. I just got this motor on the boat and have not had it in the water yet.

My last motor was an Evinrude and it blew up out on the bay. Major fire. I don't want to run this motor if the same is going to happen.

TIA

Re: motor running hot

Make sure the ears are on correctly. The hose should be directley over the screen where the water comes into the motor or the motor may not get enough water.

Check water pressure on the motor for comparison to specifications of motor. The water stream is an indication water is getting to the block, but not an indication the water pump is providing enough water.

If that's fine, measure water temperature.
