I have a 1995 yamaha 9.9 2 stroke that is a long shaft on my 14' foot wooden boat. It runs fine, but is set about an inch to an inch1/2 below the keel. What can I do th raise this up to increase speed and decrease drag? Thanks!!!

You can try lifting the motor up so the fins on the lower unit are even with the bottom of the boat. Use a block of wood between motor and transome(clamp should be long enough to be on transome still). Short of increasing your horsepower, not much preformance increase will be noticed. Aftermarket fins such as Doelfin could be installed to get your boat up on plane quicker and make it more stable but the trade off is increased drag and a slightly lower top end speed.
