Hi, I have a 16 ft lund ssv16 ( I think) alum bench seat style boat. Planning on new motor for it. So, what is a good size for trolling verses moving it around decent with 3 adults in it. I hear a 40 wont troll down ( boat rated for 40 max). So any feed back with your experiances would be helpfull. Only wanna buy it once HAHA!! Thanks

If you want the horsepower go for it. If it wont troll down then you can add a drift sock or one of those nifty plates that install over the prop. Best of both worlds.

plate is an option. I troll in reverse around the structures. was thinking around 30 horse for best of both worlds and simplicity.

Im no expert but I would think a modern day 40 would troll ok.A 4 stroke surely would.I would go for the maximum horse power even if I had to go with a trolling motor.
