Hmm...I assume you mean as an auxiliary outboard. That would be a good choice. 15 hp would be enough to push you well, even on a windy day. If you're looking for a use outboard, strongly consider the Johnson or Evinrude 15 hp. It's fairly light and super reliable.

I was concerned about the max hp.. I have not been able to find much info, and don't have the spec's

max hp does not involve auxilary motors, or troller. it is the main engine.
