guys ,i have 1970 carlson glastron conquest ,its rated for 150 hp.i have a chance of getting 200 hp outboard for it .can this type of boat handle this size engine.would it be to much power . and weight for transom .thanks
You are goin to receive mixed response to this post. The fines that apply to overpowering a motor are not pretty plus i'd rather be on the safe side. Also if you ever do get into an accident on the water u will automatically be at fault even if the other boat hits u as u were not following ur coastguard tags. You may get a lot of discussion about HP and weight that corresponds with old OBs and newer OBs but IMO the manufacturers put maximums on their hulls for a reason. SAFETY FIRST
And don't forget that the max HP rating was for your boat BRAND NEW. You think the transom and hull structure is still in the same shape as it was 41 years ago?
