Just got the above and ordered a manual on it. Now I need to get a stand. Anyone have an idea what this weighs? Any tips on a good stand to get?

I'm gonna have some questions folks, looks as though all insulation is gone from the electrics so it'll be a complete rewire. I have alota learning and doing ahead but I'm excited about it.... Any links appreciated!

Thanx turtles, I looked high and low and couldn't find the weight though. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Darn good link, that's where I got the year from my serial number. Probably where I'll get parts also.

Let me make this clear! THAT MOTOR IS HEAVY! There are 4 hand holds on it for a reason. You WILL need more than 2 people to lift it off the boat and onto the stand. How do I know, I have a 1500 same year, I tried it with 3 people and the motor ended up on top of me. I am still bruised and sore 3 weeks later. BE CAREFUL.

FOr the stand, I built mine using plans I found by searching this site. Use the search button and type in how to build your own engine stand.

Thanx Chris, I've checked out the plans on here and they're good. I think I'll order one though. I don't know the price yet as the web page of Konia didn't have an order form or prices. I emailed and will wait and see. One of the lifting points is broke off this motor so it oughta be fun. Glad you're alive, the soreness will go away ( yeah, but when ;o) and Thanx for the heads up!

My 1970 4 cyl Merc 800 weighs 275Ib so yours will be, as stated above, in and around 300Ib's.

Your motor can be lifted easily using a lifting ring that screws into the flywheel. Attach a lift or hoist to the ring and lift the motor easily. No one needs to get hurt. I use a mobile engine hoist with the lifting ring and can move the motor practically anywhere I want.
