Motor supports when trailing or storage.

I have attached a picture of the two brackets I have. The top one came with the 125 HP Force and the bottom one is for my 90 HP force. Which is the best to use. I like the bottom one for ease of putting it in place. The top one is a pain in the behind as it is a 2 person job,it slides on just above the lower unit and the bottom rest's on the back roller of the trailer.

I use one like the bottom one. It's a personal preference.

The top support is a "transom Saver" and some will claim it is the only way to trailer with the engine up. The gloom and doomers will tell you that without it you will rip off the transom.

Yours is missing the rubber vee block that fits around the engine leg. And, of course, you still need to adapt it to your trailer.

The bottom is a modified stock engine trailer support. I have use them for years with no problems. My take is that the engine under load will put far more twisting force on the transom (especially under hole shot acceleration) than it ever could trying to bounce while trailering. It appears though that your support has been extended to raise the engine more. I can not tell from the photo how it was extended and therefore can not tell if it is rugged enough and safe.

I use the bottom one.(without the modification)
Make sure you carry an extra cotter pin.
I lost a bracket by not having an extra pin.
The motor bouncing up and down did damage the hyd pump.

To each their own but I always used the "Transom Saver"! And here is my take of that. Yes the OB running does impart a lot of transom forces, but like everything made, the transom is made of materials that will over time fracture from operational fatigue. Nothing actually last forever. So any time you can prevent more transom forces, the longer it will last. So call it a transom saver or simply securing things to protect longevity, I use the one in your picture, the Transom Saver. It keeps your engine and transom and the trailer all together to reduce any forces on anything. And remember the longer the distance from the pivot point of attachment, the great the forcers are applied, like a torque wrench...longer applies more torque, simple physics... I don't think folks would allow their truck tailgates to flop around for the exact same reasons... JMHO but not the only one out there for sure!
