I have a 1997 Evinrude 225 Oceanpro and am having issues with cold start up idling. I leave my boat in the water during winter and, go down and crank it up every weekend to let it run a while. Recently I've noticed that it starts up fine but after a minute or so of idling it begins to surge. It sounds like the motor is idling down to get out of quick start but then idles back up. Every couple of minutes the motor will cut out. It restarts fine but goes through the same idling sequence again. I've noticed that when it does that surge that it shoots a good bit of water out of the exhaust ports (at rear of engine on each side of pee hole outlet).

Could this just be cold start or could something else be happening. I haven't taken it out and run it lately due to the cold weather.

The Big O
