Well I am about ready to stop putting money into my 1974 50hp motor. I got in the used parts to day that I had ordered. They were $100 for dist cap and rotor button, so not too bad but they look worse than what was on it. TMD did find NOS parts for me but I already had these on order. I'm gonna send them back if they will let me.
The shop that has it now, another I went to looking for parts and more folks are telling me I should just not put any more money into my motor.
I have found a 1990 35 hp mercury that is still being used, its up for sale because the owner bought a newer motor with power tilt and trim, my current motor doesn't have power tilt so its a non issue for me.
My question is, should this 1990 35hp fit upto my current controls for my 1974 50hp? Both are long shaft , electric start Mercury's without power tilt / trim.
