I recently posted a thread about my rpm

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=498166

After reading some other topics I came across one for setting the height for the motor. When I measured mine the anti ventilation plate sits around 5 inches below the transom. Could this be causing my low rpm by dragging the motor? It looks like I could raise it 2 holes. After that I wouldn't really be able to adjust it anymore.

The anti vent plate should be level with the bottom of the boat or maybe 1" higher. If you can't obtain this you may have the wrong mtr. If it's lower it can cause a drop in rpm.

Bottom of the boat or the bottom of the transom? It's a pontoon so should it be 1" higher than the bottom of the toon?

Didn't realize it was a pontoon. Normally on a pontoon you want it deeper in the water as everybody wants to ride up front. You can try raising the mtr the two holes and see what happens. If you've got low rpm probs it could be a mtr, prop or tach prob.
