Motor Trims up on sudden stop

When I throttle down from going fast and the wake
catches up to me my outdrive trims up slightly.

I took the trim pump apart and cleaned and
checked everything as best I could. I reassembled and bled all of the lines including the trim sender unit and it still has this problem. I was thinking maybe a weak valve in
the trim pump???????

It also starts trimming up if I go very fast in reverse (other than at reverse speed much more than idle). FYI, If I put it in reverse gear and try to trim up via the trim switches it doesn't trim so I know the reverse trim lock switch is working.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It's a 1972 140 Mercruiser 4 cyl GM block with
same vintage trim pump, electronics, and Type I sterndrive.

You can Up-grade to the newer style pump,+ delete the reverse lock valve.....
Or find an older model like yours...
