Does anyone know the weight of a 1976 Mercury 1150. I'm in the process of going over the motor completely. I have a 15-1/2' tri-hull that I just restored with new stringers and floor and transom. My other motor which is a 50 hp force and will only push the boat 18 mph The boat is a 72 surfrider and the weight cap. reads 1400 lbs which the dealer wrote in with a marker. Thanks

That weight's about right with power trim.

Just make sure your transom can take the load. Start out slow and have a buddy check for transom flex before you romp on that beast. :)

When "overpowering" a boat, you gotta use extra caution till you're sure all is OK.

-W

Thanks Clams
the top of my boat has a splash well at the back and it screws all the way around the transom. I also thought about forming out under the splash well with two blocks of foam and a couple wood braces and cut a small hole under the bow seat and fill with foam.
Ron Regan
