I have a 56 Johnson 30hp RJE-18. I have been wondering what the J or D stand for in the model #s. I see that the J stands for Javelin-what does the D mean? What are the internal differences in the engines? What is a good source for impellers, carb kits, etc. for these old warhorses?<br /><br />Thanks

Sorry I can't help you on that one,but there are many who know more than I do.<br />good luck.For parts though,there is "twin city outboard" in the twin cities.They have spare parts for every engine built since 1906 or so they claim.<br />Good luck.

Hello again.<br />Did some checking in a 1957 pricelist and manual.<br />It did not say what the R is for but the D is for Dependable and the E is for Electric start.<br />The twin city outboard phone number is 952-496-1951.However you will be able to find lots of parts on E-bay.In fact this Sunday there are six or seven parts up for auction by a guy called evinrudedude so go out there and get lucky!!!!<br />The difference between the 56 30 and the 57 35 are as follows.56 is 35.70 cu in displ at 4000 wot rpm and you should use a j6c plug.<br />the 57 is 40.5 cu at 4500 rpm and uses a j4c plug.Hope this helps you.
