I have a 1966 33 hp Johnson engine, model# RXE-14...it started cutting off like it had run out of gas, but if you pumped the ball it would run again. It also started to skip when at full speed, cutting in and out like it was loosing power. I put a new fuel pump on to solve the pumping the ball problem but it still cut in and out at full speed. I had a kit put in the carb and now the motor will only run at very low speed when in the water. It will rev high when in gear or out of gear in a drum of water at home but not at the lake. I am not very experienced was boat motors. There is a top screw and a bottom screw with flanges on the carb. I have been trying to adjust these while in the water...the top one seems to have no affect on the engine, while the top one will affect the trottle speed a little. Also, some gas leaks out of the bottom srew at times. I think I am mixing the fuel to rich...does anyone know the ratio. any sugestions?
