Motor won't shut off

Hi,<br />I just disconnected my fish finder and now my 35hp johnson won;t stop running when I turn the switch off. Thanks for he help.

In general, check the wiring and the ignition switch. I cna't be more specific since I don't own that motor. <br /><br />I would refer to the wiring diagram and diagnose from there.<br /><br />Good luck,<br /><br />Nam

Tom.... The "Fishfinder" has nothing to do with the engine wiring. That should have been strictly a wiring connection run from the battery.<br /><br />However.... The kill circuit for the ignition is as follows. Just check the wiring as I've listed it here.<br /><br />The powerpack should have a black wire leading from it to a powerhead ground. From the powerpack there will be a "Black/Yellow" wire leading from it to a "M" terminal on the back of the ignition switch. There should be another "M" terminal on the back of the ignition switch with a "Black" wire leading to ground.<br /><br />When the key is in the ON position, the two "M" terminals are NOT connected and the ignition is enabled.<br /><br />When the key is in the OFF position, the two "M" terminals are connected internally which shorts out the ignition, causing the engine to stop running.
