I own a 1967 9.5 hp Johnson. First time out this year, it wouldn't run while in forward without the choke, and with the choke it only ran shortly before it died. I pulled the carb and float chamber off, they were clean as could be. So I just put new gaskets on them. I also put a new gasket on the fuel pump. I put it all back together, and now the motor won't start at all! It's not even trying to start, I get nothing. Any ideas?

You apparently failed to fix a carb problem and made it worse.

Get a Service Manual and do it over and in detail. Make sure that you clear and blow out those tiny orifices into the throat.

Then go to the Engine FAQs Forum and do "Outboard won't start". Let us know the result.
