Motor Year Help

I have not been able to find the serial number on an old merc engine I am trying to bring back to life -- I have found a couple of other numbers and hope someone out there could help id the engine year -- the engine is a 35hp v-twin long shaft merc from the late 1960s I believe -- I have found #943-2692 on the block and #31403 on the carb -- any help would be great, thanks

try old mercs.com the serial number can also be on the block somewhere but I haven't checked mine to be sure, just what I have read
