hi mr hadley i have dial indicator with base for my tdc marks but i saw on reggie 8s post that you use a motorcycle dial indicator that screws into plug hole any idea were to get one possibly local also do they come with adapters for different plugs or is there a common size my motor is 1983 evin175 crossflow,seems that will be easier than trying to find somewere to put magnetic base, also were would i put magnetic base. on head bolt ?

Go to a place that sells machinist tools and get a spark plug hole adapter for your dial indicator. That's where I got mine. Way simple to use and inexpensive. Used to use it to set timing on a Merc racing motor ... .080" BTDC on #1 as I recall.
