It came with the boat and it must be pretty old because I can't find any info on the net. Does anyone know or care to take a good guess as to the amperage rating of this little 12V trolling motor? The OEM wires look like 10 or 12 AWG. I am thinking of using a cigarette style plug with 10 AWG running back to the battery with a 20 amp fuse. Thoughts?

Thanks, Mike

12 vdc older motors use about 1 ampere of current for each pound of thrust at high speed foward. Minn kota tech. service.--------Use a standard in line 20 amp car fuse holder. A Walmart or other discount stores auto dept. should have deep cycle size 27 battery for $ 50 to $ 60. They have wing nut terminals for the troller.

The plug (marine grade with locking adapter) is rated at 15 amps. I will go ahead and get a trolling motor plug. Thanks!
