Of course this was Cherokee where they stock them but I did pretty good using the flyrod in the creeks in the mornings. We spent the rest of the day traveling around doing the family thing. I did talk my kids into fishing Friday afternoon in the main river (oconoluftie SP) and since they were right beside me I switched to spinning tackle and worms. I got two fish over 2# and the kids and I caught several about 12 inches as well as some redeye rock bass (what I call them look like a warmouth sort of but more of a bass shape with blodshot eyes) We kept the two biggest trout and 3 more trout for dinner and let all the rest go (the 3 were deep hooked despite using circles  ) Anyway it was a very relaxing trip and if you make it to the area may I suggest a day trip to sliding rock for a natural waterslide and looking glass falls for some swimming below the waterfall then travel the blue ridge parkway stopping to see the afternoon sights on the way back to camp. It is a great day or even half day trip that I bet you or your kids will never forget.

Re: Mountian trout.

sounds cool, the red eyed fish you were talking about are called red eyes. (very aggressive fish) we have them in every body of water here in wv. ;)
