Hey guys. I had just gotten a pair of old crude downriggers. These specific riggers just have a 1.5 inch steel tube going to where they need to be mounted. What ways can these be mounted? If pics are needed, I can take some. Thanks.

O-F, moved this to a more visible forum. Riggers are used in fresh and salt, so this is more of a "How do these get mounted on my boat?" question. Pics will help.

That is an oldie. Is there a name on it?

All I can suggest is a pipe slightly larger than the post along with hardware to secure the pipe. The problem is it might only be good to troll off the stern unless the downrigger can be locked to troll from the side of the boat.

Can't see picture but it sounds like they're made to mount in a flush mount rod holder.

GA Boater, Yes. It is a Riviera. My boat has stern mount plates, so I think i will have a pipe welded to a plate that can be bolted to the existing mount. Well, that's my plan at least.

I made a mount out of stainless to mount my Penn downriggers.

Yep, I recognize those Rivieras. I had a set of them in the early 80's. Most of those had a lower section base that the post slid into and then were able to rotate out and lock into place with a pull of the spring loaded pin.
