I'm about to install the engine on the back of my boat. I know a little late, but, better later than never. I have a 16ft Four Winns and I'm putting my 2002 Yamaha 90hp on the back. It has a standard Yamaha prop. (13 1/4 x 17). I'm looking to find out how high or low I should mount the engine? I'm told the cavitation plate should be level with the bottom of the boat or is it a mount and try scenario, until I get the right height? Thanks for the advice, pfistey1

Start with the Anti-ventilation plate even with the bottom, pfistey.

When on plane the AV plate should be on top of the water. If not, raise her a notch, etc.

If you get ventilation (pumping air) from the prop you are too high.

That's rough. DHadley will probably give you more exact advice.

Good luck. :)

Hey, thanks JB. I thought I was calling the Anti-ventilation plate the wrong name. I'll keep my eye's out for DHadley's response. pfistey
