mounting new motor/correct hieght?

I was wondering about setting new motor on boat. Is it just set it on till bracket on motor sets then bolt it? The motor is a 40 nissan onna lund ssv16( typical aluminum bench seat style fishing boat). My boat is a 20 inch transom and the motor is a 20 shaft to start with. So any feed back as to what is the norm for this is appreicated...thanks!

Ahoy, Lewkster.<br /><br />Is that a bolt on or a clamp on engine?<br /><br />Does it have some vertical adjustment of the engine attachment to the mount?

The motor has 2 bolts but was suggested by dealer to bolt it also. There is no verticle adjustment that I saw.

opps. I ment it has 2 clamps then dealer suggested to bolt it. Typo

In that case, position it so that the AV plate is even with the keel, or bottom.<br /><br />Good luck.
