Mounting Transducer On Lowe?

I removed the Lowrance LMS-522 off my dash on my FM165 that came with the boat.

I mounted my old HB 798CI on the dash and ran the transducer wire and power back to the back.

I bought 1 of those starboard mounting plates from here on iboats so I can move the transducer if I had to.

Here's where I want to mount it.

But I noticed I have a few issues. 1, the back of my transom is not flat. I dont know about you guys, but there's a slight outwards bow at where you see the vertical screws about the right side of the plate. Same thing on the otherside.

Is this normal?

It's only 2 screws to mount the plate. But, from what I can tell, it's in direct line with the bilge hose. Looking inside the bilge, it looks like the hose runs along the bottom of the transom, then straight up in the corner. Is this correct? I removed the back floor panel hoping to get access to the transom area, but it's all foamed up. I'm afraid of hitting the hose with the screws....:(

Also, the white cap in the middle of the boat, may interfer with my left side imaging. Or the motor might be in the way if trim is all the way down. I wont know for sure until I mount and test it in the water.

Anyone else with a HB side imaginging on their Lowe Fishing Machine?

Re: Mounting Transducer On Lowe?

Well, I installed the plate today. I had to drill the screw holes 1 size bigger than the directions because I was starting to strip the SS screw trying to screw through the transom.

I first drilled my holes and poke through the hole as deep as the screw would go in. Felt nothing but foam. Woot.

As stated, the board does not sit flush agains the transom. But I got it as tight as possible and it sits pretty flat.

Didn't have any of the fast cure 5200 on hand, only regular. So waiting for that to dry.

*edit*

While I was running the wires for my fishfinders. I noticed the trolling motor wires. Why did Lowe cheap out on using only 8 AWG? Shouldnt they have used at least a 4 AWG because they are running the power wires roughly 16' or so? Or was this done by the dealer as "prep"?
