Hi,

I am about to mount trim tabs on my boat. I am not sure where to place them. I have tried to illustrate how the bottom looks when you look at it from behind. The painting is on this adress:

http://natur.franklandhosting.com

Any suggestions?

-Morten

Re: mounting trim tab

Hi,

What make and model of Trim tabs?
Your boat is how large (ft)?

Your picture of the transom on the link above:

I would mount the trim tabs on the outer edges.
Why:
You want the down thrust(force) to be as much vertical as possible to create as much lift as possible. With the trim tabs mounted more in the center (in your picture) they will get to almost 45 degrees in Your picture and some of the vertical lift (down force) is lost then (sideways). Imagine mounting trim tabs in almost vertical (near 90 degeree) position and You get the picture - thrust will go sideways instead of down to create lift.
They will probably work more efficient regarding creating lift if you mount them in your case more horsizontally as You can do if you place them on the outer edges of the transom.

Also the boat will probably be easier (less sensitive) to handle for sideways adjustments if you place the trim tabs on the outer edges of the transom in your case.

Just check the installation manual that will be shipped with the trim tabs You (have) select(ed) and I'm sure they will have some advice there also.
