I have a boat open hull V, 26 feet, 4500 lbs, 20 deadrise ( cobalt 272) year 1994 with engine mercruiser Marck 400 HP. Bravo 3 pich 24, in this moment my bravo 3 (1.81 ratio) need change the gears up and down, and I think is not good moment to go to Bravo 1, what will happend ?, best top speed? More performance? What gear it will need.?
Thanks in advance for your comments

Howdy Erick,
That is a pretty big heavy boat. I would stay with the Bravo III. While you may experience a slightly higher top speed with the Bravo I when the boat is lightly loaded........
The hole-shot and slow speed handling and acceleration will be MUCH better with the Bravo III.
I am not sure if Cobalt offered that size boat with a Bravo I.
My current boat (1987 Four Winns 211 Liberator) came originally with a 340hp 460 OMC King Cobra. It weighs approx 4500 with the engine and drive.
When it had the King Cobra installed, it would run approx 60mph at full throttle but was
very slow accelerating from a standing start.
In 2006 I installed an 1997 (330hp) Mercruiser 454 and (1.81:1)Bravo III.
With 26p props it will run approx 57mph....... But now it is VERY fast from a standing start, and accelerates MUCH faster from any speed.
I would never go back to a single prop drive.
Regards,
Rick
