Moving Batteries and extending cables

Greetings,

I am thinking about moving the batteries on my boat from the stbd side to the port side. The boat lists a little to the stbd side in the slip and this will correct that. Its a 23' capecraft walkaround with twin Yamaha F115 four strokes.

Can I extend the existing cables using 4 ga, or do I have to go larger given that the Yamaha harnesses are about six or so feet long already? I'm guessing I'd have to add another six feet or so to each set of cables.

thanks again, in advance.

I would replace, not extend, the cables, Pat.

Making satisfactory connections to extend them and keep them waterproof just isn't worth the risk.

I am moving this to the Boat Forum.

By turning the steering and pointing the prop and transmission to port, you change the center of gravity and lists and this should take care of your docking problem. Otherwise increase the gage since you are making the cable longer ,and one piece or water proof it by covering it in silicon.
