moving boat motor

how do i properly move a boat motor in a car with the oils still in it or do i have to drain it to move. dont want oil to be leaking in to any areas its not suppose to [like the carb] can i lay it on its side with carb facing upwards

You've got to be kidding? If it's an outboard stick the head out the sun roof keeping it vertical.
If it's a 460 drag it

not kidding it only a little 4 stroke mercury so is it not ok to lay down

Check your owners manual. We have both Honda and Mercury 4 stroke outboards on our river rescue unit. We have them marked on the engine covers as to which side they can be laid on. We lay them on the river bank all the time and never have a problem with fluids leaking out. We do disconnect the fuel lines and run the gas out of the carbs before laying them down.
