i'm rebuilding an older boat. it has a 8'x12' floor with 19' tubes. it has a center console but i am considering moving it to the side to create more useable floor space. am i going to have problems with weight distribution? i'm about 220lbs and would like the boat to still sit level when i take out myself.

Re: moving console

The only issue would be lengthening any wiring and possibly having to replace shift/throttle cables and the engine to control box cable if it's not long enough.

Re: moving console

fortunately i have an assortment of cable lengths left over from various projects. the wiring harness is the standard red plug OMC harness that is plenty long enough for this short of a boat.
i'm thinking that the console placement on a pontoon is more of a floor plan style than a design feature. or maybe what was in style when the boat was built. side consoles seem to be what most new boats have today.

My old toon has a side console and a large gas tank (25 gal.) on the other side at rear to counter balance. Never had tilt issues.
