Hey fellas,
I'm thinking strongly of moving back to Las Vegas. Anybody know of some good spots for catfishing? I prefer fishing at night. I'll have to sell my boat before I move, (I have nowhere to park it at my home in Vegas) so I'll be bank fishing. I'm assuming lake mead is the only option?

Mead is great for cats almost any point that drops in to deeper water will have cats on it. We have caught them in the middle of the day when the temp is in the hundred degree area. So at night wll probably be better and bigger cats plus you have a good chance at the stripers to.

Thanks MRS,
Do you go to Lake Mead often? I'd love to hook into a striper!

Haven`t been to mead for awhile do a lot of fishing in havasu. But mead is great use to fish out of vegas wash marina and the stripers would chase the shad right up to the shore there. From what I have heard they still do when you hear of the stripers busting the shad on the top of the water head out there. Just ask what lures are hot and where they are chasing the shad up man I need a mead trip myself soon. Are you moving back there soon?

I'll probably move around mid to late summer. I'd go today, but i have too many things to do to get ready.
I lived in Vegas for 2 years, but never had time to go fishing. I plan on doing things differently this time around! I don't care if I have to get a job at Wallmart, I'm not letting my career stop me from having a little bit of fun every once in a while!

Sorry for replying so late!
I am in butte county (northern Ca). I have fished in the delta ocasionaly, but I don't know the area well. I've also fished lake orroville, sacramento river and black butte lake. I usually fish for catfish, (got tired of bass, trout) but striper would be cool.
How far from vegas is apple valley? Is that by bakersfield?

You are way up north from me I am in the high desert outside of victorville. If you fish the delta sometimes they do have some big stripers in there it has been a long time but I did fish in I think (franks tract) I think thats what is called. I am only about 3hr.s from Lake Mead so it is not to far away from me.

Thanks MRS,
I had a change of plans, I'm moving at the end of this month. I'm wasting my time and money here in Ca.
3 hours from Lake Mead? Cool! We ought to get together for some fishing sometime.

Taking your boat with you, I hope.
Surely there must be somewhere to store it in Vegas, or the surrounding area.

Good luck with the move, and don't forget to check back in here and let us know how it all works out.

Thanks Roscoe!
It look like I'm taking it with me. I can't keep it at my house. The garage is too small, the driveway is too short and the street parking is restricted, not to mention it's against the HOA rules to park it on the street. It's probably against the rules to park it in the driveway even if it would fit.
I think if I put it in storage anywhere in Vegas it'll get trashed anyway. I figure if I'm going to store it outside, I'll store it at the lake so I don't have to trailler it so far every time I take it out.

when I lived in henderson, suburb of vegas,
I kept my boat instorage, on lake mead drive going towards lake are many good places, sunset boat storage was the best, check it out you will agree, the other one next to the gas staion is cheaper, but, really bad.
but, I left vegas, last summer and now live in dolan springs,Az,.
about 30 miles below hoover dam,I launch at willow beach, alot, or temple bar.
was at south cove last week, very steep grade to ramp, my ford explorer would have a hard time, as my boat is kinda big.and must be on guard for water hazards,-
hope to get bigger truck in future,
but, I did launch and explore that area with a smaller boat last summer.
it is a remote area of lake mead.near the grand canyon -
and some of the coves I went into, there were large numbers of stripers, chasing schools of chad , all the way up on to shore.. it was large numbers,, big time,
this was just west of south cove , lake mead.
