After trailering the boat the other day I noticed that the padded bunks on the trailer extend out from the back of the boat by about 3 or 4 inches. Is this remedied by moving the main winch post aft? Should they line up perfectly or can the stern hang over the back of the bunks by a few inches and still be ok?

Re: Moving winch post

it is no problem for the bunks to extend, it is a problem for the transom, to hang past the bunks. why do you want to move? remember moving effects tongue weight.

Cause Im going to install smart tabs and dont want to break them off by having the boat move too far forward on the bunks. I would only move the boat back about 4 inches.

No offense intended, but if you had at least listened to my suggestion on your "hitch angle" post, this problem would be fixed also. Your boat is too far forward. You are using an 8" raised bar on a full size truck to level your load!?! Move the boat back!

Re: Moving winch post

your transom must be on the bunks, adjust your bunks or tabs so they do not interfere with each other.
