As part of winter layup last fall, I changed the oil in my MR-1 outdrive. I'm getting the boat ready to go for this weekend and I checked the gear oil level by removing the vent screw at the top of the drive. When I turned the screw about one full turn, there was a brief noise that sounded like a release of pressure and fresh, clean gear oil came running out. I did not fully remove the screw, in fact I screwed it back in tight. Have I somehow over serviced the gear oil? Last fall, I pumped oil into the drive until it was level with the bottom of the vent screw opening.
