the very best one would be free one deliverd by an attractive daughter of marina owner who owns a liquer store...
sorry, could not help myself.
any good deep cycle should do just fine!
Batteries are nothing more than "buckets" of electricity. Your motor draws about 30 amps at its fastest speed. Therefore the best battery will be one with enough capacity to run your motor for as long as you will need it under normal circumstances. If you only fish for a couple hours at a time you don't need a monster battery. If you are out for 1/2 to a full day at a time then "capacity" called "reserve minutes" is the number you really need to pay attention to on deep cycle batteries. Bigger the number, the longer it will last. As a minimum you need a group 24 deep cycle. For longer run times a group 27 is in order. Charge it immediately up return to the dock for best longevity and check the electrolyte level frequently. The best battery source in my view is a local "farm store". While their batteries are generally "store branded" they are generally made by one of the few major manufacturers. A group 27 deep cycle at my local "Fleet Farm" store is less than 80 bucks and has higher capacity numbers than a $239 AGM at a major sporting goods store.[/Q
