MSD Igntion Conversion on early CDI engines

Hi, I have a 68 55hp, and curious about doing this conversion Is the MSD upgrade and big improvement on simply putting in a coil and condenser??

While the 68 55hp uses points in it's design(CD), the points tend to have a very long life in these engines, Decades in fact. If the stock system is working, there is nothing to be gained by Cobbling something else on.
