I bought a multi-gauge(fuel, water, oil) since my boat has no engine gauge except a tach. I instuctions say that there should be three wires on the side of the block on my '98 200 EFI. tan-white, tan-black and a blue-pink I found a tan-black wire and thats it. Does anyone have any info on how to install this gauge? I would not like to just cut and splice the wires without knowing.

Lewis

Multi-guage????

Fuel Level- I understand

Water???? Do you mean water temp?

oil???? Do you mean oil level?

For fuel, you're going to need a sending unit on the gas tank... If you don't have a fuel guage now, you probably don't have a sending unit on your tank(s) to send any resistence readings to the guage...

Water temp requires a temperature sender also... This will plug into the engine (probably at the cylinder cover water jacket) or one of the water lines exiting the thermostats... Without a sender you will not have any resistance readings being sent to the guage...

Oil level, will also require a sender similar to the fuel tank...

Do you have senders for all????

Re: Multi-gauge wiring

The guage is from Mercury made for the outboard that I have. Water-in-fuel, water temp, 2-stroke oil. All the senser are on the OB. The gauge just has lights and just needs the ground to complete the curcuit. The instructions from Mercury said the female connector should be hanging between the starter and the fuel water filter.

Lewis

My bad I should learn to slow down when I read! haha I was thinking you said four functions! I can tell you that they should be three separate bullet connectors and they will all be right next to each other. Instead of blue/pink shouldn't it be pink/Lt. Blue? and the wire with the ring terminal is purple right? Then it needs to be to a keyed 12 power source.

MN you are right but I can't find the bullet connectors on the OB. You're right about the pink-lt. blue also.
