Ok with the new machine I got, I have some software to where I can burn CDs and stuff, so where does a man go now to download some free music?<br />I know there was napster at one time, but don't know if they are still around or what.<br />My youngest daughter wants me to download some music for her so where do I start?<br />Thanks

SBN,<br />Here's another option P2P ..... <br /><br />BTW, There IS a difference between KazaaLite and Kazaa....if you have to have Kazaa, I would strongly consider the former... ;)

beware SBN, took me 2 days to remove all of the<br />Kaza spyware from my sons computer that was<br />hanging it up. so much crud was running in the<br />background, his puter was like a snail....

If you go to KAZA make sure your virus scan is updated KAZA is full of viruses.Found out the hard way with my son.

I posted the KAZAA LITE site, instead of the regular KAZAA, because Kazaa Lite is much cleaner than the the regular one. That is, I haven't had a problem with spyware or any virus' with the "lite", but the regular is quite bad.<br /><br /> ..Bob in Calif...

SBN,<br />Bob in Calif. is right. The 'Lite' version is the version of choice..with Kazaa. WinMX is a bit slower, but it's safe. Be sure to read the doc file and be sure you're not sharing your entire hard drive...don't laugh, I've seen it! I personally suggest that you setup 2 separate folders, one to share , the other for the files you D/L. In the folder that you share, have some music files that are in the public domain, old Benny Goodman, or Linda Rondstat(sp)Bohemian Folk Songs :D If the music police DO have a look at what you're sharing, you'll be less of a target.

Can't find the song/cd you want just post a request (like sending an mail message).<br /><br />Setting up the software isn't that hard but you better budget for a bigger hard driver if you do!! I found Forte Agent to be the best but they charge for it.

Like Woodrust says, try the news groups. You can get Free Agent, which is a news group reader. Pretty much any music taste is there. Your ISP can help you set it up, its pretty simple. The post on it are pretty much virus free as the people who post have some integrity.<br />You can also browse for software in alt.binaries.warez or the other alt.binaries groups. There are files of "adult" nature to be aware of so be careful. :eek:

Hey spinner. Try typing winmx into your browser. This is the one that snapper hooked me up with. I like it because I dont get any pop ups. When I downloaded kazaa I got bombarded by popups and could not seem to get the thing to work right with pop up stopper enabled
