Motor - 1967 Model 350, 35 hp Twin, ser number 2258858.

This motor requires the choke to start. It does not matter if you you have run it for two hours or 2 seconds. It will not start unless the choke is fully closed. After the first attempt you can go to half choke. Then you can slowly return it to fully open and it will run. You must keep the idle up or it will sputter and die.

I have noticed that when I spray seafoam throug the carb, the idle smoothes and it seems to run a lot better.

Everything looks good on this motor. It has strong compression (more than I care to pull repeatidly). The spark is strong. And the Carb looked pretty clean when I had the filter off (did not take it all the way apart).

I have an electric choke on the way, but currently I am using the manual knob and my toes to turn the key.

While I have your attention. Is this a coil, points, ... setup. With the age of the motor. I thought that might be a problem, but all the wires are flexible and still have their coatings. Is there anything under the flywheel I need to clean or adjust.

Should I clean it or adjust it?

What is the best way to adjust this carb?

I have noticed a build up of fuel in the throat of the Carb. There leading edge of the carb has a few drops of fuel (they are constant). Is this normal?

What about the points/coils? Everyone who hears the age of the motor, think I need to adjust/clean these. What is the story here? That is beyond my expirence of adding lower unit oil, changing spark glugs, and rebuild carburators.

Getting one today!

I know that is high on the list of MUST HAVEs.

Will a Selco Manual cover this?

It sounds like it's running lean at idle. I'd rebuild the carb, myself. Cheap insurance.
