denniston...I don't know what boat you have that motor on, but you have a real gem there if it's been taken care of properly. There should be a temp sensor with a buzzer or guage...if not you can add one quite easily...also a tachometer is good, mostly to keep an eye on how your motor is running, but also to prop it right you need to know the wot rpms.<br />First things I would do with a new motor like that is to change the waterpump if you don't know when last is was changed...check the lower gear lube for water contamination and metal particles...check the compression and spark plugs to get an idea how good the motor is mechanically...check the spark to insure electronics is operating properly...replace or add a fuel filter, it can be an inline automotive unit placed under the hood if you want...there should be 2 carburators so you can usually tell if one of them is plugged cause she will only run on half power. There isn't much else to do but to visually check all rubber parts and and electrical parts, replace if necessary. If she's been maintained well you could get many more years of faithful service...just a Thought
