1957 built by the Gale devision of OMC.If it s a full gearshift F N R it may share some parts with similar E/J motors. And similar tune up specs.Points at .020,plugs at .030.

Re: MW Sea King help

Ken Cook online has the manuals. The impeller and vanes can only turn one way, cause the driveshaft only turns one way. Pull the lower unit, inspect/replace the impeller and check the water passages...if the old impeller isn't whole, there may be piece of it where it shouldn't be.

Re: MW Sea King help

Most likely your impeller has failed.
Your impeller is shared with E/J motors of about the same year.
My after market manual covers the Gale 12 and 15 and the E/J 15,18 and 20- hp in the same section. The 49-57 E/J 10,53-65 15,18 and the 66-73 20 all use the same impeller(18-3002) here at iboats. My guess is the 12 is also the same.
Be sure the intake is clear.Though you should replace the impeller if you don't know its age.
If the impeller has broken up pieces could be in the system. As you take it apart try to determine what remains is comeplete. If you are going to do your own repair you should get yourself a manual. After market manuals are available here for the similar E/J motors. You also may find a manual at the library or NAPA auto parts.
Also it is best to start your own thread as it can be very confusing with multiple posters.
