Went to my dealer today in an attempt to get a MX 175. He didn't have any and was ready to order a MX 175. After spending some time on the phone, he told me that in MX 175 has been discontinued for 2010. They will be offering a MX 185, which is the same boat (a stripped down GT 185) with the swim platform from the GT 185 added and a significant price increase.

It looks like the SSV 170 & 175 are now going to be new entry level Glastrons.

He also told me that the Volvo Penta is going to be more expensive than the Mercruiser in 2010 and that Glastron is going to begin to use Mercruisers as standard equipment due to the price increase.

There, the bad news is over an I am going to bed.

So you pay more for the swim deck. Question is how much more?

My dealer told me that Mercs will have a significant increase in price due to having to add catalytic converters and the Volvos will be cheap for a while since they won't have to add cats due to the fact that they have saved "emissions credits". I wonder what the straight story is?

That's excellent to hear considering I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one. I'm looking to get the 4.3 as well. I went for a ride in a 3.0 equipped GT185 and was not really impressed with the hole shot. I've not tested one with the 4.3. Just going by what others and the dealer are saying about the performance. I'm also thinking about the XL package if they will bend a little on price.

when we purchased 2008 all gt185's at the dealer had xl package in the build...after 2 seasons we almost have 20 hrs...we just love our boat...4.3 is lots of motor...it burns more gas than 3.0 but is well worth it. the first summer when gas was 4.5 the first fillups after a day at the lake were $75..but thats just what it costs to play...yea, a little more than 3.0 but i wouldnt even consider the smaller engine unless all u do is sightsee...

Great to hear encouraging words on the 4.3 choice. I waffled between 3.0 and 4.3 for a couple weeks and finally decided the 4.3. I've been in a couple 3.0 boats and they were slow to start with any kind of load on. We'll be pulling teenagers around on wakeboard and skis. So, what color did you get? Post a couple picture to keep me occupied while I wait for our winter to pass!

That's excellent! I'm currently having a little buyer's remorse. I don't know if that happens to you. It would take the sting out of it if I had the boat in my possession. I'm also very excited to get such an awesome boat, but coming down off of the adrenaline rush from signing papers. It's quite a "chunk of change". I'll feel differently next spring I bet.

you know, there is always better, faster, bigger, however, we usually go to the lake and 8 people are going in or out of the boat and we are tubing or cruising with lots of power....using less fuel than most...i think you will be surprised how the boat performs with a full load...generally, we always have the boat full when we are on the lake....everybody wants in...no fun sitting on the dock

Sounds great zz! I can hardly wait until next summer. I'll likely have a full boat most of the time. can't leave anyone out!
