The chain is attached to the fence.. I guess he lives in a high theft area.

Yea i don't trust anyone......one year we had an ice storm and the power was out. So i bought a generator so we could have heat and light..... Much to my surprise when i went to put gas in it one morning to keep it running. Some SOB was trying to steal it...Good thing I own a 12 Gauge also....so i chain everything up......

Yea, I was surprised to see this myself, its the only one I could find anywhere. I had nothing to go on except it was a trihaul, and someone told me was a it might be a old starcraft, tock me 2 weeks to come across this. But here's a link with a pic. of the boat, and there's a little info about it at the bottom of the page its is an Explore TR. Scroll down to 1967 page 26. To answer your question there a is A tenchen wire around a lot of pulleys, that go from the steering wheel along the sides, to both side of the engine that pull engine from side to side.

Re: My 1967 starcraft explorer.....

I had one of these boats, it was given to me by a local marina when I was 16. I got it home, tore it right down to the hull and replaced the stringers, floor, console, and seating.

I LOVED that boat. My parents bought me a 30 hp Mariner to hang on it as a graduation gift.

I towed it all over creation, used it in the salt, the lakes, and rivers. It rode hard and was wet but what a fun rig- I really have great memories from it all.

@ Casco

I just ripped up my floor and found what looks like to be a rectangular compartment in the middle of the boat towards the back. was this there when you tore down yours? Was this an area for a small gas tank?

Thanks

Re: My 1967 starcraft explorer.....

I don't think so. I'll take a pic when I get home. It is completely sealed on each of the four sides and only open on top. It actually caused a puddle to form at the bow end of it since there was no way water could go under it. Seems like water would only go around it if it was really full down there. Pic to come!

Just confused about what to do with it

Re: My 1967 starcraft explorer.....

I have a 66 starcraft explorer deluxe, from what I just found out. In my search for more info I came across this post. I'm loving the pics of some of the linkages and how they were run. The kid I bought mine from had stuff all torn apart so I'm learning as I go. I don't think I have the guts to rip up the floor, but I can tell you dirkp that right where that rectangle is under your floor is where the seat box is in my boat. I heard someone in a post say it was a livewel also. Mine is screwed closed right now, but I'm going to take the seat apart and see if I can turn the box into a live-well.
