Well I already have a few old Evinrudes(Fleetwin, 2 Fastwins, 2 BigTwins) Now I can ad a '57 Sportwin to the list as well as my first Johnson, a '59 fat50.

Both came on a free boat, 1959 Dolphin 16' with a Continnental trailer.

Time to learn how to work on a f/g boat. Transom is soft and the boat had water between the hull and floor. I know it will be alot of work but this boat is big with an 86 inch beam, hatch at the bow and just overall a better ocean boat than my Crestliner 14' Commodore

How hard can it bee to replace stringers?

it can be a pretty big job, but you're in the right place. Check the Restoration forum and you'll find tons of folks there that can walk you through the process. Congrats on all the free toys.

Free boat, motor and trailer? Awesome deal! Yes, go to the restoration thread for the stringers and transom repair.

86" beam and a hatch? Cool. Do you have pictures?

It's definitely a job you only want to do once!! I despise fiberglass work, but have gotten halfway decent at it. Getting everything degreased before you lay the glass is the most important thing to me. Also the resin quality and such.
COngrats on the motors. I'd hate to feed that fat 50, though@!:)

Nice pick ups, but as we all know there is no such thing as "free" i cant count the dollars and time ive spent on "free" stuff. But in the end its an education. Some people paid thousands to sit in class, others learned working on "free" stuff. In the end it all works out.
