They always say it takes twice as long and costs twice as much.... I can say without a doubt that this is true....

Of course, it's not 100% complete as of yet, but it's done enuff to catch fish... All thats left is a little upholstry (a seat cushion), a swim platform (when i find the right one), and the installation of a rocking sound system... :D All minor in comparison to what I started out with...

http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/iboat smembers/lst?.dir=/snapper%27s&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/

Hope this link works..

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showgallery.php?cat=998&thumb=1&si=snapperbait

I thought my project was big (21' Starcraft C.C. conversion, needed new everything). What size is she (24')? Did it come with the T-Top? I was thinking of making one this winter.

Re: My 2 year project is complete...

It's 21'... T-top did'nt come with the boat.. It's second hand, found it for sale for cheap... Top needed a good bit of modification to fit the console...

Power by Ford 5.0/302.. Fuel injected, roller cam motor...220hp? $400.00, thank you very much, wrap it up, i'll take it! (actually i had to pull the motor outta the car) Straight outta a low mileage totaled mustang, all upgraded to marine specs, of course.. (distributor, alternator, flame arrestor, manifolds, heat exchanger, ect.)

Ran the same motor & trans in a ski boat a few years back, so i new it had plenty of grunt to push this monster around..

As it's propped right now, She tops out about 35mph and cruises at 23-25mph at 2800-3000rpm... Gonna fool around with a few props because it has too much rpm left on top end... WOT is just a shade over 5300rpm which is too much... Borg/warner 71C transmissions don't like to spin much over 4500 rpm..

Re: My 2 year project is complete...

shes a beaut, snapper da MAN, and a five liter ford to boot, the Sea Craft is a 302 as well, makes me think, yanno, maybe with that top deck off, the prospect of redoing that monster is DOABLE, I just dont know how you could re floor it with the top on, and of course you have to floor it with the top in place or the whole mess opens up, and you have the Tupperware Effect when you go to put it all back together

I wonder what a decent outdrive would go for?

hmmmmmm ....

Re: My 2 year project is complete...

The whole deal Crab bait.... I gutted it from the get-go.... Stringers, floor, transom, even built a new top/cap... The whole deal...

At last count, something to the tune of 60 gallons of resin, I dunno how much cloth, I lost count of the yardage (all 17oz bi-axial) and good bit of mat, 7 gallons of gelcoat... Fiberglass supplier loves to see me walk in the door....

She's way overbuilt...

I got the envelope of recepts here, afraid to figure out the total..

Re: My 2 year project is complete...

Thanks for the compliments..

Pat, I used 2lb. urethane foam under the floor on each side.. wanted the hull to be solid, so filling the under floor area did just that..

Tailgunner, I got the console from a surplus outfit, brand new with no holes cut in it, so i was free to put the instruments and such anywhere I wanted...

Striper-chaser, i textured the inside with white gelcoat and a texture roller, then painted it with rust-oleum... I was'nt going to paint inside, but gelcoat will stain from fish blood, ect., so i painted it just to keep it from staining so easily..

Matantiques, Hours drive, Fishing? anythings possible... :D

Oh yeah.... Named her "Spare Parts"... Long story... Basicly, as the project progressed, I ended up with a storage room full of spare parts and odds and ends that for one reason or another did'nt get put on the boat, so Spare parts seemed a good name..
