My 48 spl is still having some carburation issues

I've pulled them, stripped them, cleaned them with spray carb cleaner twice now, installed an inline fuel filter on my fuel hose and they still pop at idle after being run for a while.

I could not get the jets out due to the lack of the goofy tool but I could spray through them from both directions. Apparently not going to be good enough. Since I buggered them up a little trying to use alternative method for removal, I would like to go ahead and get new jets.

Where can I get a jet tool and a new set of jets for these carbs?

Model no. is E48ESLENB
Serial no. is G03063887

Also would like to know what year this engine is.

tool part # 317002, i assume you mean the high speed jets, as the others are easy to get out. high speed jets #320921 you need 2. they both are available at ishopmarine.com. about $40.00 with shipping.

I was thinking the pilot or idle jets were clogged since it runs fine everywhere above idle.

How do I get the low speed jets out?

As Tasha said, you can get them online. I rebuilt/am rebuilding a 60hp 3 cyl. and the previous owner had messed up the high speed jets and I couldn't get them out, even with the tool made from Tasha's directions. I ended up having to use an easy out to drill into them to get them out. If you do this, be careful, one of my float bowls cracked where the jet was instead of the jet coming out. I had to replace the float bowl assembly.

It always helps to soak the aluminum float bowls before trying to remove the high speed jets; that gets rid of the hardened gel in the threads. Sometimes seating the driver and giving it a tap or two will help as well.

I found the low speed jets.

Will the high speed jets affect the idle?

OK you only need the tool for the high speed jets # 19, #9 is mid range jet, #18 is slow speed jet, and it is adjustable. read the 1st section of this thread, http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=167352

I can't read the numbers on the scan well enough to see where #18 is.

I found them.

It's running a ton smoother than it has since I got it and doesn't sneeze at all.

TD, I owe you a nice steak dinner - next time you come through Birmingham look me up and I will make good on that.
