Hello all ,

Love the site and forums i can't even begin to tell you how much awesome information and help I have received here. I am finally getting going on the Holiday v I picked up last year for $850.00 . She was in rough shape and I mean rough(that is also how I got the guy to lower the price ) .
So as the nice weather finally arrives and I have a Little time between work I have started tearing into her with the help of a very close friend and very talented to say the least. I was originally planning a quickie for this year and then a full restore this winter and next spring , but once I started most of it needed help now ( You'all know that story LOL !)
Now I do have to mention I took her out late last year in the beginning of Nov to water check it and once i got her runnig she ran like a top but the water pump impeller was a deep issue, plenty of get up and go and started every time once warmed up (figured the age thing )
So since the new job in Jan I have been collecting as much as possible to do as much as possible in a shorter time not worrying bout the mailman .
A few months ago with the warm spell in March I tore out the seats and carpet and started getting a game plan together
The floor was hideous ROT everywhere and not a solid spot init bigger then a 1 foot square.
So this past weekend my first full weekend off in about 2 months I went hard and heavy into her.
ripped out all wood and deck , tore out all the foam (BTW Half of it was so water logged I had to cut it smaller to remove it) and luckily I had a bunch of new foam given to me and a boat load in the basement I forgot about WooHoo , Problem solved. everything was thoroughly shop vac'd and I scrubbed it all with 409 and scrubby wow I could not even get a good pic of it clean she shined so much . Almost a shame to cover it up. All the drain ports down the middle where plugged with debris and muddy substance and the hull and bilge was just to horrific to explain LOL.
all the foam was replaced and the new plywood was under coated with poly the riveted down with near matching original style rivets .

I really need a new garage big enough for this stuff LOL .

Re: My '68 Holiday V Project

I do have pics of the wood work but it say's they are too large and does anyone know how to correct this short of retaking them , thank you in advance . So now I am getting everything together to do the wiring and am still waiting to get enough together for the new bimini top ,stereo, and VHF antenna, Bummer but OT is here and will have it all together in a few short weeks. My other concern is to go with either vinyl, or acrylic for the top and want it to last a decent amount of time for me I was looking at the ones on sportsmans guide seeing I am a member but only wanna get it if it is a decent one .
Moer much more to follow , and if anyone wondering (which I know you are ) I will be repainting it either later this year or next and the trailer too. I also will have to replace the transom next spring just cause I wanna b sure
thanks all
this site ROCKS !!!!

Thanks guys , It has a 1974 115 Rude on her , runs like a top and I jst freshen'd the lower unit and new water pump impeller too ( man those two water tubes are a real pain in the $#% to line back up ) LOL but anyways this past week I have been doing nothing but varnishing all the pieces I cut last weekend . I was hoping for a maiden voyage this weekend but will have to wait one more. Oh well at least it will be done right!!! I also have just finished building my own custom planer board mast and have been collecting electrical items for a few weeks also I hope my new lighting comes today if not won't see it till Tue it looks like.
